What Really Matters

Social Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs are essential drivers of innovation and progress. In the business world, they act as engines of growth, harnessing opportunity and innovation to fuel economic advancement.

Social entrepreneurs act similarly, but their passion is to meet the needs of the marginalized, the disadvantaged and the disenfranchised - populations that lack the financial means or political clout to achieve lasting benefit on their own.  Joel News #884

Matt Castagna will act as the managing partner for BHI. For the past 40+ years Matt has been involved in “ground floor” opportunities in the areas of property development, program initiation and implementation, and project management. His whole life’s work has centered on new startups, seeing a project through to completion. Matt is no stranger to small beginnings, penny pinching, and making every minute count. He has a can-do or do without attitude which is critical for any new venture. Problem solving is an everyday task.
Matt lived and worked internationally for 13 years of his professional life.  For the past twenty one years he has lived in Littleton, Colorado, working in media production. His work has entailed multiple trips to Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. His experience in media production will contribute greatly to the production of quality commercials for the marketing of BHI products.
Matt’s management experience includes nine start-ups including:

  • Homestead Lamps                               https://www.etsy.com/shop/HomesteadLamps a custom lighting company focused on high end floor lamps for the cabin/summer home market. Matt holds two lamp design patents.
  • He produced a $2 million feature length motion picture in Latin America called The Enemy God. https://www.facebook.com/TheEnemyGodFilm/
  • He also founded a summer camp and a technical training institute in Belize, Central America. To give you a snapshot of what was entailed in the Belize venture; Matt was the founder, developer and director of a 250 acre camp which was located in the middle of the jungle, two miles from the nearest dirt road.  With a surveyor’s map and a $10 compass, Matt laid out over three miles of roads and a development plan for a camp which housed the functions mentioned above.

In particular, Matt had oversight and responsibility for:

  • Supervision of three to 35 employees at any one time.
  • Interviewing, hiring and firing of said employees.
  • Building design, engineering and maintenance.
  • Materials procurement-in a 3rd world context, this is difficult, to say the least!
  • Program design, promotion and implementation.
  • Camp facilities, program finances and bookkeeping as well as fund raising responsibilities.
  • Regularly writing and publishing of promotional program newsletters.

Leslie Castagna has had years of experience as an administrative assistant which included bookkeeping responsibilities. She has a keen eye for details, customer service and administrative duties.
